England equalizes T20 Series

In the 2nd T20 match of the Vitality Series, England equalizes the series by 1-1. England won the match by 5 wickets. They reached the target of 149 with 2 balls to spare.

Like previous match, England also opted to field first. India looses its top order batsmen very cheaply. First, Rohit Sharma got out in the last ball of 2nd over. Jake Ball got his wicket who was playing his first T20 International match. He scored 5 from 9 balls. Then, in the 2nd ball of 5th over Shikhar Dhawan got run out and on the 5th ball of the same over K.L Rahul got bowled. They scored 10(12) and 6(8) respectively.

After that skipper Virat Kohli and experienced Suresh Raina kept the scoreboard running. For 4th wicket, they both partnershiped for 51 runs off 38 balls. After that, in 13th over Ex Captain M.S Dhoni come to crease. He was playing his 500th international match. He scored 32 off 24 balls. In the final session of the innings, Virat kohli also got out. He was the highest run scorer for Indian side as he manages to score 47 off 38 balls which include 1 four and 2 sixes. After playing all 120 balls team India made 148 runs loosing 5 wickets.

Liam Plunkett and David Willey were the inexpensive bowlers. They both got 1 wickets each and in their 24 balls spell they just gave 17 and 18 runs respectively.

In response to 148, team England path was full of bounces. They also lost their top order in the beginning. In this match, Joe Root comes in first down which is not his usual place to bat but he also couldn’t do much. After that Alex Hales comes in and batted till the end. He played a magnificient innings of 58 runs from 41 balls. In the fifth ball of tenth over, India took referral(LBW) against Alex Hales which was unsuccessful. Dhoni was not sure about it but Kuldeep convinced Virat to take it. This was A. Hales 8th T20I 50.

In the end, this series comes to decider. Let’s see who will win the 3rd T20 match in County Ground, Bristol.
